According to news.discovery.com, Rowan Sutton of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science said "It looks very likely that globally 2014, 2015 and 2016 will all be amongst the very warmest years ever recorded. This is not a fluke. We are seeing the effects of energy steadily accumulating in the Earth's oceans and atmosphere, caused by greenhouse gas emissions."
The rate of increase in global temperature is being monitored by scientists and experts as it can help in providing forecast as to what would be the earth's temperature for the coming years. After a certain period of time, it was reported that the earth warming slowed down. Some used this "pause" to justify that global warming is caused by natural occurrences rather than due to human activity. However, scientists said that the slowdown has no significant impact and said that this justification is just a product of miscalculations.
According to news.yahoo.com, Britain's Met Office released a 20- page report about the effects of global warming to changes in major weather patterns that affect the temperature at a regional level.
The El Nino weather in the tropical Pacific Ocean is expected to be one of the most intense El Nino ever to be recorded. Very strong El Nino readings were recorded over the winters of 1982 and 1997. The current El Nino is expected to bring dry climate in parts of Asia and Australia as well as Sub- Saharan North Africa. However, southwestern United States including California, has higher chances of experiencing higher- than- average- rainfall. El Nino phenomenon also affects tropical storms, making it more intense in West Pacific but much weaker in North Atlantic region.
A small ray of hope in still in sight as ocean currents and atmosphere in Atlantic can bring cooling effect. The report says "The current warm phase is now 20 years long and historical precedent suggests a return to relatively cool conditions could occur within a few years."
