Ronald Reagan’s Former Pacific Palisades Home Sells above Asking Price

President Ronald Reagan's former Pacific Palisades home has sold for $5.2 million Thursday, Feb 14, 2013.

The home first hit the listing market in December 2012 for $4.9 Million. After a short term on the open market, the home sold for $300,000 more than the asking price.

Reagan and his wife Nancy moved into the house in 1957. The home was awarded to Reagan by General Electric as a token of appreciation for his long term association with the company. Reagan had hosted the "General Electric Theater," which was a weekly anthology series aired on CBS.

The couple lived in the home for around 25 years. They sold the residence in 1982 when Reagan moved to the White House after being chosen the President. The home was also featured in the November 2005 issue of Architectural Digest's section, "Hollywood At Home".

According to the listing records at Redfin, the home was built in 1956 and designed by William R. Stephenson. The home comprises of four bedrooms and four baths and is fully equipped with energy saving gadgets furnished by General Electric.

A private gated driveway leads up to the entrance of the home. Large doors open into the spacious living room that features high ceilings and huge glass windows. A dining room, separate breakfast area, a den/office, a master suite and a state-of-the-art kitchen make up the interiors. A bonus room and a separate guest room are also available on the property.

Reagan was a radio, film and TV actor before his stint in politics. His most famous movies include "Bedtime for Bonzo", "Kings Row" and "All American".

Before running for President, he served as the governor of California from 1967 to 1975. During his presidential reign, Reagan introduced many economical and political changes that were dubbed "Reaganomics."

After serving two terms at the White House, the Reagans moved back to a property in Bel Air, Los Angeles, where Reagan lived his last days. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 93. Nancy Reagan still resides there.
