Images and specs of the alleged first Android phone from Blackberry have been a subject of rumors several times now which got a lot of Blackberry fans excited. It is reported that the Blackberry has codenamed it "Venice" and the slider handset has been leaked more than once online. A new report now says that it has been "spotted" in the wild in Toronto during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
The latest leak, a picture of the said Android phone from Blackberry, came from BerryFlow. The picture is grainy but BlackBerry's logo can be clearly identified along the top of the phone. It has also been said that a follow-up report from BlackBerry OS shows that the device running apps that require Google Play.
From here, it can be inferred that BlackBerry Venice may be running on a combination of Android software and the company's own set of applications. One can also expect to get the standard SMS service native to BlackBerry's own Messenger. Based on the leaked image of BlackBerry Venice, it seems that the company has integrated Google Play into its system which then allows users to download apps and launchers that are accessible to Android devices.
Moreover, the leak also hints that the new BlackBerry smartphone will have a big 5.4-inch display with a physical keyboard that slides out. It is also reported to bear the Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM. The camera is said to have an impressive 18-megapixel camera resolution. These specs make the new BlackBerry smartphone promising enough even if it has been said that it won't be competing directly with the latest Android phone models.
We can only hope that this leak means that BlackBerry will soon be making an official announcement. Will BlackBerry make a notable comeback in the smartphone market?
