'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers & Air Date: Tragedy Will Strike; Olivia Makes Sure The Royal Family Is Safe

After Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) rekindled their romance, it is reported that both will be back to doing their respective businesses as "Scandal" returns for Season 5. It can be recalled that three major characters are already out of the White House, and these include Cyrus (Jeff Perry) and the first lady Mellie (Bellamy Young) after her involvement with Rowan (Joe Morton).

It was also reported earlier that a possible presidential divorce might happen in Season 5 as Fitz proclaimed to Mellie that he will do everything in his power to prevent her from being elected as the next President, after he discovered that she was responsible for getting the B613 jury killed. However, according to International Business Times, it seems like Olivia and Fitz will still be keeping their relationship in secret as they go back to their respective jobs. It was speculated that Fitz may be advised not to go through a divorce for the sake of his presidency.

In the exclusive Season 5 premiere episode photos featured in Entertainment Weekly, Fitz and Mellie can be seen engaging in an intense conversation, and the official synopsis of the show also reveals Olivia being back in action, as The Queen of Caldonia will be visiting the White House. According to the synopsis, Olivia's task is to make sure that the Royal Family is safe and their life stays private. However, the visit will reportedly turn into a tragedy and fans will see how Olivia will handle the situation.

Meanwhile, according to Christian Post, it seems like there will be a long line of enemies waiting for Olivia and Fitz. According to the site, Jake (Scott Foley) will be entering the scene and might be hungry for revenge after Season 4's events.

"Scandal" Season 5 will return on September 24 on ABC.
