GoPro Hero 5 Release Date & Specs: Action Camera Confirmed for Next Year? Boasts Full Ultra HD Videos, 2800 mAh Battery & More

Rumor has it that GoPro Inc. will release its new Hero camera series called the GoPro Hero 5 in 2016. It was said that the upcoming video camcorder was originally scheduled for an October 2015 release date. However, new reports indicate that the company has moved the release date to 2016, as additional features and improvements are being integrated in the rumored device, a report from VC Post said on Wednesday.

"The delay in the launch of the upcoming Hero 5 camera from October to early 2016 has also given rise to bearish sentiment towards the company's stock. The push to 2016 would result in GoPro witnessing a major drop in its sales on a year-over-year basis during the fourth quarter, since historically, the company as always launched a new Hero camera near the holidays season. GoPro's key supplier, Ambarella alluded to this in it's second-quarter earnings call, wherein it predicted a drop in GoPro sales for both the fourth quarter on a year-over-year and sequential basis," Tech News Today said, explaining the postponement of GoPro Hero 5.

The upcoming Hero 5 is said to capture 8K quality videos at Full Ultra HD, which is far better compared with the 3840 x 2160 resolution of its predecessor, the GoPro Hero 4. It can also record a 4K resolution video with 1080-pixel resolution at 60 fps, 720 pixels at 100 fps, and 1,440 pixels at 30 fps.

It is also a waterproof device which can be used up to a 60-meter depth. The price of the video recording device is estimated between $400 to $500.

"GoPro Inc., usually releases a new model on a yearly basis, but if this 2016 release date rumor about the GoPro Hero 5 turns out to be accurate, then the fourth quarter of the company might not be as pleasant as they expect. Plus, fans will surely be disappointed, especially after hearing reports after reports of its delay," Ecumenical News noted.
