There are two definite updates to the James Cameron sci-fi movie. First, there is definitely going to be an "Avatar 2" to hit theaters in 2017, a sequel to the first one that was released in 2009. The movie is currently in production and the fans can expect to see a comeback of its original cast Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington. Second, Michelle Rodriguez is not going to be joining the sequel's cast.
While attending Gabriela Cadena fashion show on Monday, Michelle Rodriguez has told The Post that she was not offered a role in for "Avatar 2."
"They're bringing back a lot of other characters. I know Sigourney Weaver's coming back and the guy who played the bad guy, Stephen Lang, is coming back," said Rodriguez. "But yeah, I'm not gonna be in it."
In the meantime, Sigourney Weaver will be back in "Avatar 2," but she won't be playing the same character and has given fans a very small perception of how she will resurface in the upcoming film. Dr. Grace Augustine was already killed off in the first movie. According to Vine Report, Weaver said this while she was at The Jonathan Ross show.
On the other hand, there have been speculations that Pandora will have a prison theme. It has been reported that the movie's artist Goksan Ozman has dropped such hint but an official word has yet to come from James Cameron. According to Vine Report, Cameron has said in an earlier interview that there will be a conflict between dominating nature vs. integrating with nature.
"The primary conflict between the human view kind of dominating nature and the Na'vi view of being integrated into nature is the same, but it manifests itself in very different ways," Cameron said to RTL, according to Vine Report.
