After just one season, Khloe Kardashian has been fired from “X Factor,” where she co-hosted it with Mario Lopez.
'They are asking Mario [Lopez] to come back, but not Khloe,' an insider confirmed to the New York Post.
The youngest of the Kardashians had no prior experience before landing the high-profile gig, and many fans of the show often complained of her awkward, stilted chemistry with Lopez.
Last month, Kardashian told Huffington Post Live:
“I’ve never done live TV before, and I was asked to not do any hosting lessons because they wanted me to be just myself. I found the day before because the stage was just built, that I couldn’t read the teleprompter without glasses, so I had to get contacts the day before.”
Towards to end of the season, Kardashian even professed feeling she was getting better with each show. She even thanked her boss Simon Cowell for helping her with her confidence by telling her, “I hired you for you, I could have hired any trained host, so be yourself.”
“I am sure there was a big percentage of Khloe’s fans who followed her to X Factor,” said L.A. hosting expert Marki Costello. “But at the end of the day, when she doesn’t know what she is doing, are you helping your show or hurting it?” Costello also said that watching Kardashian with Lopez made her feel uncomfortable as a viewer.
In order to get the job, Khloe face tough competition from people life Stacy Keibler and Kelly Osbourne. In the end Cowell wanted someone with no previous hosting experience for the job because watching someone like Ryan Seacrest say everything gets boring to the audience. The Kardashian was officially given the job, along with Lopez. Khloe Kardashian’s last appearance on the show was the December 20, 2012 finale.
The show may find itself floundering for viewers this season after judges L.A. Reid and Britney Spears announced they wouldn’t be back; Reid said he wanted to focus more on his job at Epic Records, and Britney will be touring, recording, and making perfumes like it’s the year 2000.
