'Minecraft' Convention Angered Participants, Event Organizer Apologized for Long Queue

There is no doubt that Minecraft has truly swept the gaming world like a storm. It really caught the attention of most gamers since it was first released in November 2011, even the tech giant Microsoft was allured by Minecraft leading to its purchase for $2.5 billion. And one of the many testaments of its ever growing success are the Minecraft Conventions being held all year round, both official and non-official.

Just recently, massive numbers of Minecraft fanatics and gaming enthusiasts flocked the unofficial Minecraft convention dubbed as "MineVention" to meet and greet famous Minecraft players and to attempts to break an existing Guinness World Record Title. The MineVention which was held at Peterborough Arena in United Kingdom promised to offer photos and autographs from famous Minecraft players aside from an opportunity to take part in a gaming tournament. However those expected events were not completely fulfilled due to the large number of MineVention attendees.

The said Peterborough Minecraft convention was attended by around 4,100 people. As a result of the massive number of participants, most of them spent hours queuing to meet and greet famous players but at no avail. Later that day complaints then flooded the social media primarily mentioning the queues being too long to meet top Minecraft idols and the lack of food during the said event. MineVention complaints then reached the event management which later on explained the incident and released an apology letter via their website. Lisa O'Brien, the organizer of the event, posted a statement on the events website, saying:

"We are truly genuinely sorry to hear our event did not meet a few people's expectations. MineVention is primarily a 'Meet & Greet' event and so this does mean queuing, but on the plus side it does give the kids the special chance to meet their heroes. We had invited 22 fantastic YouTubers, 8 FutureTubers and a number of extra YouTubers we were delighted to see come along."
