Rory Kennedy Purchases Home in Malibu for $2.9 Million

Famous producer/director, Rory Kennedy, has bought a posh beach front mansion in Malibu, California, for a cool $2.9 million. Kennedy picked the home up in a bank foreclosure sale on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.

The home is located in Malibu's prime Point Dume coast and comes with beautiful ocean views. The house is a single-family residence comprising of four bedrooms and four bathrooms and spreads across an area of 4803 square feet. The home features dark hardwood floors and beamed ceilings. The home has a spacious living room and a children's wing as well. The modern kitchen opens up to the large family room.

The residence has a sunny backyard with huge open patios. A large pool and a spa also exist in the property. The residence provides a three car parking garage, reports Trulia.

Kennedy's alleged purchase may suggest that she is relocating permanently to the Western Coasts with her husband Mark Bailey and her three young children. It might serve as a vacation home as well.

Rory Kennedy is the youngest daughter of former U.S. senator, Robert F. Kennedy. She is famous for her directorial stints in documentaries like "American Hollow", "The Fence" and "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib".

Kennedy's 2003 documentary, "Pandemic: Facing Aids," was nominated in two categories at the Primetime Emmy Awards. More recently, in 2012, she directed a documentary "Ethel," which is a 97 minute story that provides an inside perspective on her mother, Ethel Kennedy and the political clan. It also provides a glimpse of the Kennedys family life.

The New York Times called it a 'touching, loving and sometimes mischievous tribute to Ethel Kennedy.' "Ethel" premiered at the Sundance Festival in 2012 and was aired on HBO.

In the documentary, Ethel Kennedy also revealed how she fell in love with Senator Kennedy and broke down while talking about his death.
