Manchester United's Luke Shaw Suffers Double Leg Fracture

It was an unfortunate day during the Manchester United's 2-1 Champions League loss after Luke Shaw terribly suffered from a double fracture to his right leg according to a news report on The Independent.

After he tackled Hector Moreno, the game was held up for about ten minutes while Shaw received oxygen and was treated on the pitch before he was carried off in a stretcher as cited in an article on Fox Sports.

As quoted from an article on BBC News, Louis van Gaal, Shaw's manager, said, "It is awful. It was a very bad tackle. He had the oxygen mask on and was crying in the dressing room." However, Shaw wrote on Twitter right after an hour following his treatment, "Thank you everyone for your messages, words can't describe how gutted I am, my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger."

Phillip Cocu, the PSV manager, did express his sympathy for Shaw as reported in BBC News. "We are all sorry about Shaw's injury. Hector is a player who went for the ball and was not out to injure anyone but it didn't look good," the ex-midfielder said.

The United teammates of Shaw reacted to what had happened. "Defeat hurts, but Luke Shaw's injury hurts even more," David De Gea, the team's goalkeeper, said in a statement. Another team-mate of Shaw, Defender Chris Smalling, expressed his sentiments on Shaw's misfortune as cited on BBC News, and he hoped for Shaw to "come back soon, my friend"
