Selena Gomez Felt 'Violated' after Justin Bieber Split

Years after Selena Gomez's break up from Canadian singer Justin Bieber, the star revealed that she felt "violated" when people discussed the failed romance.

Gomez made the revelation during an interview with Wonderland magazine, reports MTV. The former Disney star was featured as the magazine's cover model for its October and 10th anniversary issue. In the interview, the "Love You Like a Love Song" songstress shared how she decided to take control of her own image and that the journey was tough but exciting. She also said how much she hated being asked about her split from Bieber and told the magazine that "it was very violating."

However, the singer decided to write about her frustrations in her new album, "Revival." Gomez told Wonderland, "I think [my album] was such an outlet for me to talk about how I see things. Honestly, it's the first time somebody said: 'So what do you want to do?' and I literally had no idea what I wanted to do because I didn't have anyone to fall back on. I wasn't asking Disney, I wasn't asking anyone. It was going to be solely me. And at this point there had been so many people talking about my life."

The "Come and Get It" songstress also treasured the opportunity for her to write, and shared that it took her "a year in total" to figure out what she wanted to say to her fans. She explained, "I wanted the opportunity to figure out what I'm going to say and how I'm going to say it so people can understand me... Obviously it is exciting and beautiful and I can't wait. It is going to be my revival - that's why I've titled it 'Revival'. I had to realize that the real world was exactly where I need to be, or else I'm going to lose my mind."

Meanwhile, Gomez's "Good for You" made it to the number one spot of Billboard's Pop Songs airplay chart Monday, September 14. Aside from landing the top Pops Songs spot, the singer's "Good For You" also reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Gomez's new album "Revival" will be released on October 9.
