Queen Elizabeth, United Kingdom's longest-reigning monarch, now owns a property in the United States, specifically in Downtown Chicago. Reports claim that the British Royal has purchased a three-bedroom, three-bathroom condominium unit for $1.6 million.
According to WGNTV.com, Queen Elizabeth bought the condo at 360 East Randolph to serve as the home of the Canadian consul. It is located in a building appropriately named The Buckingham.
Curbed reports that the property is located on the 26th floor and measures 2,600 square feet. Based on the pictures on the website, the unit offers sprawling city views with its huge windows. Various wooden furniture can be seen throughout the unit.
The kitchen is decked out in white interiors and features granite countertops combined with stainless steel appliances such as a huge refrigerator and oven. There's also an area in the property which appears to be a library featuring wooden cabinets decked out with some books. The bedrooms of the condo unit also have partial views of the city and also feature furniture made of wood.
According to Forbes, Queen Elizabeth has a personal net worth of $500 million, which comes from her property holdings, extensive art and fine jewelry and one of the world's largest stamp collections.
The Richest reports that the Queen also receives an annual salary of $12.9 million. Most of the British Royal's assets are said to be tied to her position, which means she can never sell them, the report claims.
Queen Elizabeth is currently 89 years old and has reigned in the United Kingdom since February 6, 1952. Her predecessor was George VI, while her heir apparent to the throne is her son Charles, Prince of Wales.
