'Reign' Season 3 Premiere Date & Spoilers: Show Heads To England Court; EP Teases Viewers Will See Different Side Of Elizabeth

Big changes are going to happen as "Reign" returns for Season 3.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Season 3 will pick up a few months after the Season 2 finale, and a new court will be added to the mix. Showrunner Laurie McCarthy revealed in an interview that the show will be going to England and feature some scenes in the Elizabethan court.

McCarthy added that the time jump won't be occurring on every episode and that there will also be a number of characters who will be moving between different courts as well. The showrunner added that Season 3 will feel "global," and it will be shot in different locations like Spain and the Netherlands. In Season 3, it was reported that the stories will be bigger and more personal.

The showrunner revealed that once the TV series enters the Elizabethan court, the viewers will see more of Elizabeth and learn about her different sides. McCarthy said, "We meet Elizabeth a little bit later in her role, she's a little bit more sophisticated. She's a few years older than Mary, which allows for some sexually charged court intrigue."

Rachel Skarsten, who plays Elizabeth, hopes that the viewers see the character as less of a villain compared with the previous seasons. In a video featured in Enstarz, Skarsten talked about playing one of the most iconic figures in history. She revealed that in the upcoming season, Elizabeth would be mentioned most of the time and that the characters will be making a reference of her.

Skarsten also talked about her anticipation in playing the role. She revealed that she is looking forward to portraying not just her strength but also some of the character's insecurities. She revealed that in Season 3, Elizabeth will be plotting with Catherine (Megan Follows) to bring Mary (Adelaide Kane) down.

"Reign" Season 3 will premiere on The CW on October 9.
