‘Minecraft’ Games: New Story Mode Coming This October; Digital Launch Will Precede Physical Sales By Two Weeks

A new report has surfaced on Thursday saying that the first episode of "Minecraft: Story Mode" is slated to be released on Oct. 13. The game's story mode will be called "The Order of The Stone," and it will debut in the game's eight launch platforms.

It was said that after it arrives in Steam, PSN, Xbox Live and other digital storefronts, avid fans and gamers will be able to grab physical copies of the game at various retail stores, iDigital Times said.

"Minecraft: Story Mode will follow the adventures of Jesse; a new character, whose gender is decided by the player, created specifically for Minecraft: Story Mode. In addition to the protagonist, players will be joined by Jesse's pet pig, Reuben, and a handful of other characters who aid Jesse in his/her quest to find The Order of the Stone. Longtime Minecraft fans will be pleased to hear Minecraft: Story Mode will visit iconic Minecraft locales, including the Nether and the End. And we'll see plenty of familiar enemies from the Minecraft's survival mode," the report said.

Gamespot reports that in Story Mode, the game's hero Jesse can either be a male or a female. The developer has said that it is working closely with the other team in Mojang to ensure that the "Story Mode" will have the same look and feel as the "Minecraft" world that players have come to love.

The publication added that the game's "Story Mode" will have a total of five episodes and it can be purchased individually or via a season pass. While the retail version will be available on a disc, the other four are expected to arrive through downloads.

Telltales has yet to announce the price for the game's invidual "Story Mode" episodes.

"Minecraft: Story Mode" is slated to be released in October for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Mac, and Wii U.
