"Arrested Development" Season 4 ended in May 2013, and since then, Netflix has been dropping hints that Season 5 is now in the works.
However, according to Christian Post, Netflix hasn't confirmed anything yet, but reports are now circulating that production for Season 5 will start in January, and the show will be available for streaming by mid-2016.
The show was reported to be part of the 50 best shows and 50 best comedy shows in Netflix. That is why the site thinks that fans will surely be rejoicing if the rumors are true. The Emmy Award-winning show is about a dysfunctional family who was in the brink of poverty after they lost all their wealth. It follows how the family copes with their loss through the different personalities of its members.
The show ran on Fox between 2003 and 2006, and Netflix ran Season 4 by May 2013. The show's producer, Brian Grazer, revealed in an interview that the show still has more stories to tell. He revealed that "the show's creator Mitch Hurwitz is creating a writer's room right now. We're going to get everybody on board."
However, during the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Beverly Hills, California, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos revealed that putting together the group to work for the new season has been difficult for them. This is because some of the guys on the production team are also working on other shows, but he revealed that the streaming company has all the intention to bring back the show for Season 5.
Sarandos also admitted that they are also having a hard time working on the schedules of the actors in the show. Last month, Jason Bateman, who plays the role of Michael Bluth, revealed that there is still no plan about the show's return for Season 5, according to Netflix Life. This is despite the report that executive producer Brian Grazer told Bill Simmons that they were working on a 17-episode season.
