Rumor has it that Dell is about to unveil something that will go head-to-head with Microsoft's Surface Pro 4. What's interesting is that It will also come out in October-- same as the Surface Pro 4.

A German website, Giga, has recently leaked what appears to be a renewed Dell XPS 12 that promises to be way better than the upcoming thinner and lighter Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Furthermore, the renewed Dell XPS 12 reportedly will boast of a higher resolution at 4K x 3,840 pixels 2,160 packed into a 12-inch borderless infinity edge screen. There will also be a thunderbolt connection in addition to the USB ports. They keyboard reportedly is illuminated with a high precision touchpad that can be attached to the tablet magnetically.

It does sound that Dell is ready to kill what has recently been called Microsoft's "laptop killer" by The Verge. According to The Verge, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 won't be so different from Surface Pro 3 only that the upcoming Surface Pro is rumored to be thinner and lighter with increased display size and resolution. Surface Pro 4 reportedly will also have a scanner on an updated Surface keyboard.

With the features and specs that has been mentioned above, how is Dell's XPS 12 exactly going to measure up to Microsoft's Surface Pro 4? When Dell's XPS 13 was released it pushed MacBook Air out of it pedestal for being the thinnest notebook, according to International Business Times. More importantly, XPS 13 has more screen space because it has the thinnest border at 5.2mm and XPS 13 measures 9-15mm thick and 2.6 pounds or 1.18kg. Speaking of the processor, the XPS was said to be faster with Broadwell-based Intel Core i5 compared to Apple's 1.4 Ghz Haswell-based Intel Core i5. With this we can expect the latest XPS 12 to be as good or even better.

There are no leaked rumors about the price yet but according to Endgadget we can't expect Dell's XPS 12 to be cheap with the presence of a 4K screen and thunderbolt. The cost reportedly will also depend on the choice of processor and storage. We can only wait until these gadgets are out in October.
