Game developer Double Damage Games has announced on Friday that "Rebel Galaxy" is scheduled to be launched on Oct. 20. The game will arrive on PC via Steam and GOG.
It will also launch on PS4, Xbox One and Mac later this year. Once the game is rolled out, die-hard fans will be able to take control of a very powerful capital spaceship which is tasked to explore the galaxy spanning a multiple star system, IGN said.
"Rebel Galaxy is an action-packed, swashbuckling space opera. You'll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer - or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat," said Travis Baldree, describing the new video game.
"We're very happy to announce the launch date for Rebel Galaxy. We've had more fun making this game than anything else we've ever done, and we're excited - and a little nervous! - to see it out in the world," Baldree said in a statement.
In 2014, "Rebel Galaxy" was first revealed by both "Diablo 2" and "Torchlight" developers. The game's trailer, which was also shown to avid fans, has revealed the different kinds of ships and characters. Aside from this, the footage gave the players a preview of the trade and negotiation components and frantic space combat of the game.
"The exploration title's developer Double Damage Games was founded in 2014 by Travis Baldree and Erich Schaefer, co-founders of Torchlight developer Runic Games. Prior to founding Runic, Travis worked on 2005's action role-playing game Fate and multiplayer role-playing title Mythos, before 2008. Erich was co-creator and lead designer of Diablo and Diablo 2, and lead of dark fantasy RPG Hellgate: London," according to IGN.
