"In January 2016* Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will terminate support for the Facebook features integrated within the PlayStation3 and PlayStation Vita systems, as well as the Facebook applications for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV. In anticipation of this change, the Facebook applications will no longer be available for download from PlayStation®Store as of 15 September, 2015.

However, the company said that the PlayStation 4 remains to be unaffected This means that PS4 features such as linking a Facebook account to the console can still be done. Aside from this, owners of PS4 will still be able to upload and share various media contents via Facebook directly from the console.

"While this termination still remains a mystery however it is not the first time Sony has removed support for some features, as in January 2015 the Japanese tech giant had removed support for PS Vita's YouTube and Maps application. Sony had also removed the Near social network feature on PS Vita that allowed Vita players to connect with nearby gamers that were playing the same game," the report noted.
