Bethesda is preparing to release "Fallout 4" mod tools in early 2016. The news comes after the company's game executive producer Todd Howard explained via a video that the game's mod creation kit will eventually come out as scheduled. However, he said that the announced timeframe is still "fuzzy."
Mod creation will allow gamers to modify the code and extensively edit the game, a report from IGN said on Friday.
"The tools will first arrive on PC in the early 2016 time frame, then will be ported to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with the help of Microsoft and Sony respectively. Although he provided a rough time for release for the PC modding tools, Howard was hesitant to give any release windows on the console versions, since they are still in production," said Howard as quoted in report.
It would appear, though, that creating mod is very complex, thus Betheda's Howard is unlikely to suggest that the game's version for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will give users creative mod controls. This only confirms the previous reports that the console versions of the game will be playable through a modified PC code.
"We're doing it [mods] on the PC in a similar manner to what we did with Skyrim. You'll have all the PC mods, but what's really exciting is we are finally bringing it to console. Once we get the creation kit out on PC, it's then going to come to Xbox One," Howard said, as quoted by Gamespot.
Trusted Reviews, meanwhile, reports that Bethesda has announced that id Software will be extending assistance to the company by refining the shooting mechanics of the game. id Software is the game developer of "Doom and Rage."
"Since id Software is part of our company, the first thing we did was call them. Alright, we're going to do this from scratch, give us some tips," Howard said.
"Fallout 4" is slated to be launched on Nov. 10 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Bethesda has announced that the game will be receiving an expansion pack come 2016.
