Modern Realty: An Island Home in Washington that Needs a Boat to Get There

An island estate with a modern home in Henry Island, WA is up for sale. Surrounded by blue waters on all sides and beautifully located just off the Shore of San Juan Island, this island paradise in the Pacific Northwest has a price tag of $2,895,000. "When I first bought it in 2003, it was so remote, it felt like the end of the world," Adam Kasper says.

Realtor said that Kasper envisioned a modern place to live in with his wife and their daughter, a place where they could enjoy the sound of silence. The Grammy-winning music producer hired Bohlin Cywinski Jackson to build a waterfront getaway home on 24 acres of land. Kasper was so impressed with the results. "It's a work of art,'' he says.

The 2,700-square-foot home has three bedrooms and features concrete floors and ocean views from every room of the house. Built in 2008, the construction of the house had some challenges, as all building materials had to be ferried in by barge.

Any personal or household things needed like groceries or a haircut, could only be done by taking a boat ride that takes around four minutes to Roche Harbor. A boat ride from Seattle to Roche Harbor takes about three hours.

Seattle Curbed reported that many people think that living in a 24-acre island surrounded by clean blue waters is just a fantasy. But to Adam Kasper it's more than a reality. The island is a pretty big property on a fairly secluded place near the Shore of San Juan Island.

The features of this island property include three bedrooms and two bathrooms on two parcels of land, totaling 24 acres on Henry Island, and located near the northwest shore of San Juan Island. This modern island home has an awesome open floor plan and features a cook's kitchen, concrete floors, radiant heat, and spectacular water views from every room.
