Apartment in ‘Friends’ Comparison: Monica and Rachel’s Pad vs. Joey and Chandler’s Apartment

Viewers who watch the 90s sitcom "Friends'' know that Monica and Rachel has a great pad and a sweet deal, which is in contrast to Joey and Chandler's humble apartment across the hall. Monica and Rachel's two-bedroom pad, with purported address at 90 Bedford Street, has features of a real kitchen, a balcony (with a beautiful view to the apartment of Monica's brother, Rachel's boyfriend), and an open floor plan.

On the other hand, the two-bedroom apartment of Joey and Chandler i0s a bit more realistic - it has mousy parquet floors, a fridge, and an older model stove - typical for New York City apartment dwellers.

Realtor said that in Manhattan you will find plenty of buildings, where some of them are renovated and untouched apartments. But in the TV version of Bedford St., there is a huge distinction. Joey and Chandler didn't experience envy at some apartment dwellers.

According to Friends, the grandmother of Monica was the official tenant of the apartment, and had lived there for a long time before Monica. When her grandmother moved to Florida, Monica stayed in the apartment and sub-let the apartment illegally to some friends. She sub-let her apartment to Phoebe, her roommate before the start of the series, and to Jack and Erica Geller-Bing, who resided only for a few days because they decided to move to their new house. The apartment became empty when Monica and Chandler moved out to their new house.

The apartment of Chandler and Joey, which is beautifully located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, was made as a gathering place for the six friends. The place is more modest than Monica's apartment, and was considered generally realistic for residents with an average income to afford living in New York.

Joey and Chandler's lazy lifestyle was seen when their kitchen table broke, and rather than buying a new one, they instead bought a foosball table where it resulted for them to eat over the sink.
