Coming Soon: 'Taken' Prequel TV Series

NBC has just picked up a straight-to-order television series based on the hit movie franchise "Taken." The 2008 movie starring Liam Neeson is about a retired CIA agent named Bryan Mills, who travels across Europe to save his kidnapped daughter, beating up thugs along the way. The film was a surprise hit, earning more than $145 million in the box office, and spawned two more sequels (2012 and 2014).

The movie's millions of fans will definitely want to see the story come to life again, this time with a new twist. Deadline has confirmed that the TV series will be a prequel, featuring a very young Agent Mills, set way before the movie's timeline. Mills doesn't have wife and a daughter, and he is still on his way to becoming a top-notch CIA agent.

The TV adaptation will chronicle how Mills hones his "very particular set of skills," in reference to the movie's most famous quote, part of Mill's speech to his daughter's kidnappers. Fans who have seen the movie will remember actor Liam Neeson giving a chilling, memorable delivery, "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."

The "Taken" reboot will be produced by Luc Besson, who also co-wrote all three "Taken" movies. So far, it is unclear if Liam Neeson will be connected to the series. No actor has yet been tapped to play the lead part, nor has NBC announced an official premiere date for the prequel series.
