Google is rumored to release the new version of Google Chromecast before this month ends.
The second generation of Google's Internet streaming device for TV, Chromecast, is nearing official launch if rumors prove to be true. According to Mashable, Google will hold an event on Sept. 29 and it is expected that among the scheduled announcements from the tech giant is the launch of a new and improved version of the streaming gadget. Chromecast is a dongle device which has HDMI support and is used for getting online content like iOS and Android apps straight into a television screen. Chromecast is already two years old.
In the same post by Mashable, the new Chromecast is rumored to be getting a new form which will be starkly different from its previous appearance. It is also reported to have three color variants as opposed to the black of the original model. One key feature reported is the introduction of "Fast Play" which will make Chromecast's Wi-Fi connect faster and smoother.
Meanwhile, The Verge reported that instead of a new Chromecast coming for Google, there will actually be two variants arriving. Aside from the upgraded version of the original Google streaming device, there will also be a Chromecast Audio device. One feature was revealed and that is its ability to connect to speakers via a standard 3.5mm jack. In addition, users can use several Chromecast Audio devices to hook up with speakers and make them play in sync. Obviously, this device was created for music streaming and with reports coming out that Spotify and Google are teaming up, it can only mean good things for Google products. Aside from Spotify, Google also gets support from its own Play Music, Pandora, and Rdio. Although the Chromecast is generating great excitement, the highlight of Google's event will still be the new Nexus phones.
