‘How to Get Away with Murder’ Season 1 Acquired By Netflix, TV Streaming Service Giant to Air It Worldwide

"How to Get Away with Murder" is only on its second season but Netflix decided to acquire the rights to the smash hit crime drama and make it available for Netflix users worldwide.

Netflix announced that it has reached an agreement with producers of "How to Get Away with Murder" to be awarded the rights to the first season of the series. Initially, according to Variety, episodes of the show will only be available in the U.S., Canada and Latin American territories. Netflix will roll out episodes in other places in the following months. Janice Marenelli, Disney-ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution president said, "This agreement to make our season one episodes available underscores the value of this series, and reinforces the overall popularity of 'How to Get Away with Murder' on ABC and its other first-run platforms around the world,"

In the same report by Variety, Netflix VP of Global TV Sean Carey said that they are excited to give their audience worldwide the chance to watch "How to Get Away with Murder" season one either for the first time or just to catch up on what they missed. The deal comes just before the premiere of season two of the show. It is also seen as a good strategy to let fans and viewers watch the full season one episodes to drive more interest for the upcoming season which will kick-off on Sept. 24. It was also reported that "How to Get Away with Murder" is the highest rating TV series for ABC last year and the studio is dedicated to make the series better and more exciting in the coming seasons.

In a separate report by Deadline, "How to Get Away with Murder" will be joining other top shows from ABC that is already streaming in Netflix like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal".
