Marvel's cinematic universe is set to get even bigger. The female superhero based on the comics, "Jessica Jones," will have her own series to be shown on Netflix this November. Marvel has just released the first set of pictures, giving the fans a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming show.
The photos show actress Krysten Ritter, who will take the lead as Jessica Jones, the reluctant female superhero. Also seen in the teasers are David Tennant as the supervillain Kilgrave, and Mike Colter as another Marvel hero, Luke Cage. Luke Cage will also have his own Netflix series in 2016.
Last July, "Jessica Jones" producer Melissa Rosenberg spoke with Entertainment Weekly and described Jessica Jones as an "incredibly flawed, damaged and interesting character regardless of gender."
"Jessica Jones is a very, very different show than Daredevil," she said. "We exist in a cinematic universe, [and] the mythology of the universe is connected, but they look very different."
Recently, we've been seeing more Marvel stories spilling out from the big screen to television, with series such as "Agents of SHIELD" and "Daredevil."
"Daredevil" has just wrapped up a very successful first run, and is set to return on Netflix next year. While fans may have to wait a while to get official photos, the producers have given updates about production for season two.
Gamespot has reported that Scott Glenn will resume his character as Stick, Daredevil's mentor. Another famous character will be joining the show's second season. Actor Jon Bernthal has recently confirmed his role as The Punisher, and even teased his followers on Twitter, posting a picture of himself wearing a jersey printed with The Punisher symbol.
"Daredevil" season two will premiere in 2016. "Jessica Jones" will hit Netflix on Nov. 20 this year.
