Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest operating system from Google, is set to be unveiled by the end of this month. According to TechRadar, it has received an invitation from Google for its event on Sept. 29, teasing "join us for tasty new treats and much s'more." Well, "s'more" could only mean one thing to those who are excitedly waiting for the Marshmallow update--a major hint of Android 6.0 release date.
The big question though is when the new operating system update is going to reach your phone for download. Nexus phones will get them first when it debut by the end of the month, according to iDigitalTimes citing Tech Times. Last month, the final beta version was launched.
Many Samsung phones are still waiting for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update, but according to MNR Daily, Samsung might skip on it and update its flagship phones to the latest Marshmallow version, like what other companies have planned. iDigitalTimes said that YouMobile earlier reported that Samsung phones will be upgraded to Android 6.0 during the first few months of 2016. Among the phones that will reportedly receive Marshmallow are Galaxy Edge, S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, S6 Duos, Note 4 and Note 5. Galaxy Alpha, Tab, and S5 will likewise be updated to Android 6.0, MNR Daily reported.
iDigitalTimes said that LG G3 will skip the Lollipop update and go straight to the Marshmallow, while reports said that Marshmallow operating system will be available on the Motorola Moto X Style, Droid Turbo and Moto G later this year or early 2016. HTC One M9 and two other HTC handsets will also get the Marshmallow update, as well as Sony phones such as Xperia Z3, Z3+ and Z4 Tablet.
Android 6.0 is reportedly focused on improved user experience. Some of the Marshmallow fixes and improvements, as reported by Neuro Gadget, include a new USB-C type connector which will allow your device to charge three to five times faster than it used to be, as well as easily connect to your PC.
It also includes a "Now on Tap" feature, the Android assistant, that will allow the user to search without exiting an ongoing application. You only have to tap and hold the home button.
Marshmallow also comes with a 25MB cloud storage (Google Drive) to save applications and application settings.
Another added feature is the Doze, which is designed to extend battery life. It will learn over time which applications are using up your battery and slowing down your device and let you know which applications you need to uninstall to improve performance.
Lastly, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will include a fingerprint scanner and Android Pay feature that would allow user to make payments using the device. The fingerprint scanner can also lock applications.
