‘Fast & Furious 8’ News and Release Date: ‘F8’ To Help Cope With Paul Walker’s Loss, Michelle Rodriguez Says

"Fast & Furious" is going back on the big screen with the eighth instalment and the filming will start next summer, according to one of its stars Michelle Rodriguez.

Michelle told E! News at the Harper's Bazaar Icon Party that they hope to film in New York. She said, "Yeah, we're trying to round up the troops." The news is kind of bittersweet now that Paul Walker was gone, but Michelle said that "Fast & Furious 8" will help to cope with Paul's loss.

"We need a good reason to move on after Paul," she explained to E! News. "And being that this is a global franchise now, it's not just the American baby, it's important that we consider moving on and take it seriously."

"Fast & Furious 8" will pay tribute to Paul Walker, according to Michelle, and will try to be "true to Paul's wishes." She told People at the UNITAS Gala Against Sex Trafficking in New York City that the late actor "wanted to bring it back down to the core, which is the racing. He was always complaining about the special effects and the blue screens."

Michelle continued, "Hopefully we'll be able to do that cause it's gotten bigger than ever and you know we also have to stay true to that so it'll be a challenge."

Vin Diesel dubbed the eighth installment as "F8" or "fate," remembering that, "Paul used to say that 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass." He said to E! News backstage during the MTV Movie Awards, "Furious 7 was for Paul; 8 is from Paul."

Paul Walker died in a car crash in 2013. "Fast & Furious 8" is slated to hit theaters in April 2017.
