Looks like gamers are in for a treat as the PS4 gets a price cut just in time for the holidays.
According to playstationlifestyle.net, the price of PlayStation 4 in Japan will be slashed effective Oct. 1 and Sony has made an announcement that the same thing will happen in other areas in Asia. On the other hand, there isn't any word yet as to whether or not the U.S. market will see a price drop.
Everybody is hopeful including the head of the Microsoft's Xbox division, Phil Spencer. In a recent interview with IGN, he has expressed his confidence that Sony will soon have the same initiative in the west. He said, "I fully expect they (PlayStation) will drop price. When I think about the playbook they've used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we'll see a price drop from them coming."
If Sony does cut the price on PS4 in the U.S., the Xbox does not feel threatened at all. He reportedly suggested that the competition would be a good thing, according to IGN. And talking about Sony's attendance during Paris Games Week, in which the company is expected to make such announcement, Spencer said, "It's great for gamers when price competition happens. We saw that last holiday, and we saw crazy sales numbers on all of the consoles."
On the other hand, starting Sept. 24, lucky gamers might win themselves a limited edition PS4 Gold bundle just by eating at Taco Bell. According to Tech Times, Sony has recently announced that those who buy a Big Box from Taco Bell can go to their website to register for a chance to win a PS4 bundle with a gold DualShock controller, as well as "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" and a PlayStation Plus subscription for one year.
If fans are feeling lucky then they should head over to Taco Bell starting next week. For those who don't end up winning the bundle, they can hope that Sony announces a price cut before the year ends.
