According to MarketWatch, the median period of time that a home sat unclaimed or listed on the open market was around 108 days in 2013. That's around 9 percent drop from 2012. The market is increasingly becoming favorable for the sellers.

San Francisco, the "Baghdad by the Bay" city is one of the best cities to sell homes. The median time that a home sits on the listing market is around 56 days. Midland, Texas
Midland, the oil town of Texas was ranked No. 1 on Yahoo's "Cities where homes sell fastest" in 2012. The median time that a home took to sell in the city was around 71 days. The median re-listing rate was accounted to be only 4 percent. Hardly 1 percent of the homes sold at a discount in the town.
Phoenix, Arizona
Home prices in Phoenix went up 28.4 percent in 2012. Homes were listed on the market only for a median period of 58 days. Home sellers in the city also reported that there were zero offered discounts and the properties sold for 100 percent asking price.
Houston, Texas
Another Texan city has made its way into the "best-city to sell" list. Houston is one of the cities that is on the rise. Sales of homes rose 41.6 percent in 2012 when compared to the figures of 2011. Foreclosures in the city have also declined. The demand is red hot in the city as prices have shot up commendably leading buyers to bidding wars in the city.
Denver, Colorado
The queen city, Denver held on to its real estate horses even when the recession hit. Home prices only fell by 11.1 percent in the city since 2006. Currently, the number of days a home sits unclaimed in the city is just around 33 days. Median home prices are around $269,000 which is one of the highest in metropolitan areas.
