According to MarketWatch, the median period of time that a home sat unclaimed or listed on the open market was around 108 days in 2013. That's around 9 percent drop from 2012. The market is increasingly becoming favorable for the sellers.

Midland, Texas

Midland, the oil town of Texas was ranked No. 1 on Yahoo's "Cities where homes sell fastest" in 2012. The median time that a home took to sell in the city was around 71 days. The median re-listing rate was accounted to be only 4 percent. Hardly 1 percent of the homes sold at a discount in the town.

Phoenix, Arizona

Home prices in Phoenix went up 28.4 percent in 2012. Homes were listed on the market only for a median period of 58 days. Home sellers in the city also reported that there were zero offered discounts and the properties sold for 100 percent asking price.

Houston, Texas
