'Final Fantasy XV' Gameplay: Fishing and Chocobo Riding Detailed

Game developer Square Enix has released a new game trailer of "Final Fantasy XV" on Monday. The five-minute trailer features Chocobo's antics and a fishing mini-game. It was said that the gameplay mechanics were actually featured via a live stream during the Tokyo Game Show, a report from Gamespot said.

"Fishing will be an integral part of the hunting and cooking process in the game. Players will be able to fish in ponds, lakes and other bodies of water they come across. This is done by casting their own fishing poles and waiting for a fish to bite. When a fish bites, the player will have to 'fight' the fish by following on-screen prompts to keep it on the line and reel it in. When the fish has been reeled in, Ignis will cook it like. Like other cooked foods, it will provide the party with a status buff. There will be many kinds of fishing rods and lures available for players to use to catch different fish," the report said, describing the fishing mechanics of the game.

Polygon describes the Chocobo riding in the video game as fast and furious, and it reportedly features "a little drifting." It was revealed that when a player rides a Chocobo, it can walk, dash and jump to reach higher places. It is further expected that Chocobos will be visible throughout the "Final Fantasy XV" worlds. Various activities will also be made available for Chocobos.

"During a video demonstration we saw Noctis going to a Chocobo farm and browsing through prompts that gave the impression that you could rent the giant, yellow-feathered birds. Well, this video confirms that you indeed can rent them and apparently ride around as an alternative means of transportation," Cinema Blend noted.

The game's developer is planning to launch the "Final Fantasy XV" in 2016 for Xbox One and PS4. The company is likely to announce the release date of the video game early March next year.
