Apple's latest mobile operating system, the iOS 9, is now available for download, both for iPads and iPhones. However, some Apple users have encountered difficulties in getting the software update.
In response, Apple has attributed the problem due to "overwhelming downloads" and has asked Apple users to be more patient. It can be recalled that iOS 9 was first announced during this year's WWDC, and mobile experts claim that the mobile OS will be packed with fantastic features.
Apple has seeded the latest operating system last week and the company says that iOS 9 contains more improved features compared with its predecessor, the iOS 8.
Here are the seven iOS features that avid fans of Apple may find innovative and useful. Tech-savvy users will be able to take advantage of these features including iOS 9's new applications.
Spotlight Search
iDigital Times reports that one of the seven new features of iOS 9 is the Spotlight search. It has received an enormous upgrade as it can now search through the different applications.
Apple has reportedly integrated a separate page for Spotlight search in App Store that showcases this newly improved search feature. To access it, users have to swipe left when they're on the home screen. It was also said that Spotlight has a "machine learning" feature, in which all items that have been searched by the user will automatically be generated.
Siri
Apple claims that in iOS 9, Siri has been improved and is 40 percent better. Apple users can invoke Apple's personal assistant by saying the words, "Hey, Siri."
Techno Buffalo reports that "Siri is even smarter in iOS 9. Apple promises that she's more accurate and delivers faster results. Siri Suggestions can be accessed on the Search page. A simple swipe away from the home screen brings up the user's most frequently used apps and contacts for quick access. By tapping on a contact, a user can quickly call or text that person.
New Font Style /Aesthetic Design
iOS 9 has also introduced some aesthetic changes that Apple users will easily notice. For instance, if users double click on the home button, they will see the new Recent Apps screen, which is in slices format. Siri also has a new color graphic, which can be activated by the user. Apple has also replaced its old Helvetica Neue font with the new font style, San Francisco.
News App
Apple users will now have access to various news organizations after the company has replaced its old Newsstand app. Media organizations, such as Wired, ESPN, The New York Times and Bloomberg, are now integrated in iOS 9's News app. It was said that all texts, graphics and other multimedia contents will be sourced directly from these news organizations to allow news publishers to take control of how news contents are presented.
Other three features of iOS 9 are iPad Split-Screen Support, the new Notes app, and Apple's keyboard improvements.
"iOS 9 keeps the same overall design and look as iOS 8, but comes with a handful of new features, including improvements in Notes, transit directions in Apple Maps, new split-screen multitasking on the iPad, picture-in-picture mode, an improved Siri, better Spotlight Search results, and a lot more," according to Gotta Mobile.
