ABC recently released a new teaser for the upcoming 12th season of "Grey's Anatomy," and it features some major changes in the life of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Not only will Meredith be living with Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Amelia (Caterina Scorscone), the changes in her life will also be overwhelming for her.
According to the official synopsis for the premiere episode titled "Sledgehammer," Meredith's life will continue to be turned upside down after Derek's demise.
"In one brief scene from the 20-second trailer, she runs down a hallway littered with toys to find one of her roommates smashing a hole in the wall with a sledgehammer," it said.
Meanwhile, the premiere episode will also focus on Meredith's half-sister Maggie, who will reportedly be hitting a blonde woman in the premiere episode, according to Inquisitr.
In other news, "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will be much lighter in tone compared with Season 11.
Pompeo previously said, "Doing a show this long, the challenge is to make ever year fresh and new, and to give it a different feel to keep the audience engaged. Everyone can agree last year was pretty dark tonally. We were telling volatile stories, and this year we're going to turn over the soil, and the show has a lighter look. It's brighter. We're trying to go back to a little bit more to the original 'Grey's' and have a little bit of a lighter tone this year."
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will also focus on Amelia and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) relationship, especially now that the latter will be moving in with someone he didn't expect to live with. Additionally, Season 12 will also introduce new love interests for Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
