Best Selling Author Jackie Collins' Death Came As A Shock To Hollywood

Hollywood stars are mourning the death of best-selling author, Jackie Collins. Collins was said to be secretly battling stage 4 breast cancer for six years. She kept her illness to herself and spares her family and friends of the ordeal she was going through. She was confiding in her three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.

It was PEOPLE who first broke the news. Joan Collins who just found out weeks ago about Jackie's diagnosis shared, "She was my best friend, I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her."

Collin's family confirmed to E! News that the author passed away Saturday afternoon. She was 77.

The family issued a statement to E! News saying that, "It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today." They added, "she lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words."

MSN reported that a lot of Hollywood stars are mourning the death of the well-known author.

Oprah tweeted, ""#RIPJackie Collins. I always loved our interviews."

Melissa Gilbert said that Collins was, "An amazing woman. Talented. Funny. Kind. One of my very favorite producers ever. She will be deeply missed."

While Michael McKean wrote, "I met Jackie Collins once. She was smart, warm, funny & didn't take herself too seriously. RIP."

Kris Jenner shared a photo of her with Collins on her Instagram, "I'm so sad to hear about the passing of Jackie Collins..my love and prayers go out to her family and friends and to her sister Joan..what an amazing woman.... It was a joy and honor to have known her."

Collins' last interview was Sept. 14 with PEOPLE at her Beverly Hills home. She shared that she had no regrets keeping her diagnosis to herself and private. She was able to embrace a full life until the very last of it.

"Looking back, I'm not sorry about anything I did. I did it my way, as Frank Sinatra would say. I've written five books since the diagnosis, I've lived my life, I've travelled all over the world, I have not turned down book tours and no one has ever known until now when I feel as though I should come out with it," said Collins.
