"Downton Abbey" is down to its final season. But before they could wrap up their production, they had a special guest on the set. Kate Middleton visited the film set of "Downton Abbey" last March when she was "very much pregnant" with Princess Charlotte.
Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) told E! Online on Saturday that the cast and crew were not really sure what to expect. She said, "We all got quite shy and she was sort of leading the conversation."
"It was lovely," Laura added. "She's so normal. I know everyone says that but she really does try to make everyone feel at ease."
Laura said they were all star struck to the point that they started talking about the catering and other weird stuff.
Jim Carter (Mr. Carson) also told E! Online, "She's a big fan of the show. I don't think she'd been on a film set before or a TV set so she was intrigued by how different it looked on the screen and in reality. She overstayed. She stayed long. She was having such a good time."
Kate Middleton's visit to the "Downton Abbey" set is a "seal of approval," according to the show's creator Julian Fellowes who was also happy to know that the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan. Fellowes said, "The duchess is very charming and she follows the show so she was able to talk properly with all the cast and the crew."
Queen Elizabeth is a fan of "Downton Abbey" as well, according to Inquisitr, and the queen likes to fact-check and spot historical mistakes on the series.
Inquisitr said that Brian Hoey, author of "At Home with the Queen," mentioned that "the Queen did notice on one episode that there was a young so-called British officer wearing medals which had not been awarded when he was supposed to be alive. He was fighting in the First World War and the medals on his chest did not come in until the Second World War."
"Downton Abbey" final season will premiere in the U.S. in January.
