Someone is trying to close an ambitious deal out of a pricey lavish penthouse at Manhattan's Walker Tower. According to The Wall Street Journal, the mysterious buyer who recently bought a full floor penthouse priced at about $31 million in the Chelsea condominium in May of last year is now selling the penthouse at $42.75 million.
According to The Wall Street Journal, listing agent Toni Haber of Douglas Elliman Real Estate has refused to name the owners but shared that the reason they are selling the penthouse was they are spending more time on the West Coast than expected.
According to Haber, the penthouse comprises the entire 22nd floor of the 24-story Art Deco building. It has four big bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half baths. To create the apartment, the owner selected two unfinished, unfurnished units from floor plans. Then they hired an architect and worked with the developer to turn the two units into one big penthouse that boasts of two terraces, three wood-burning fireplaces, and amazing views of One World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty.
The penthouse also features an eat-in kitchen, a media room, a 45-foot-long living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a guest wing with a kitchenette of its own.
The Walker Tower was an office building before it was turned into to a Condominium. Aside from the pricey penthouse that is mentioned above, there is another one at the top floor that is on the market for $70 million, nearly $20 million more than the original price it was purchased for.
Those two are not the only ambitious flips ever attempted at the Walker Tower. There was also a duplex that an agent has attempted to sell with an asking price of $24 million after it was purchased at $14.255 million in 2014. There is also unit on the 9th floor that got listed for $7.6 million, $3 million higher than its previous closing value.
