'Arrow 4' Series Updates: 'John Constantine' Has a Major and Important Role

It must have been bad news for the fans of John Constantine that the show was cancelled after one season, but the good news is he will be back for an episode in the fourth season of Arrow. According to Cinema Blend, Matt Ryan will reappear as John Constantine in the episode "Haunted" and fans will get to see him once again blow out smoke from his symbolic cigarettes like he did in the trailer. Surprisingly, show creator Marc Guggenheim has an even better announcement. He reportedly says that his appearance in the hit CW series should not be viewed as a mere cameo because it will be "a major role for the chain-smoking occultist".

In addition, Guggenheim has spoken to SuperheroHype and noted that Constantine's visit to Star City will not feel forced. "When you see him in the show, honestly it feels like we're doing a Constantine/Arrow crossover, and it's so exciting... We're just really glad we got the chance to extend Matt Ryan's run as Constantine by at least one more hour of television. I think you'll see he fits very neatly into our universe. It never feels forced, it feels right. Stephen's on screen vibe with Matt is just very natural, it's as if these guys had been working together forever."

On the other hand, it is still unclear if fans will be seeing the same Constantine from the cancelled NBC series, but what is certain is that John Constantine will be working with Team. Needless to say, Matt Ryan and Stephen Amell have great chemistry together, according to Cinema Blend. Hopefully, Guggenheim will find a way for this big DC character to return as he had previously said, "he fits very neatly into our universe."

Arrow Season 4 will return to CW on October 7 at 8 p.m. EST.
