"Modern Family" actress Sofia Vergara was battling the flu over the weekend, which explains why she missed out on the Oscars, reported The Christian Post.
It was a nasty flu she had to receive treatment for at the hospital and The Post reported she could have contracted the flu during the weekend.
"Watching the Oscars at home so I don't give anyone the flu haha," Vergara tweeted with a photo of herself in the bed.
A source close to the 40-year-old told Huffington Post Celebrity that "Sofia is fine and there is nothing to worry about."
It was rumored Vergara had to get surgery, but that was immediately shot down when she made her tweet. Vergara was also supposed to attend the annual Oscar party at Madonna's, and many were looking forward to her red carpet gown and glam.
Vergara's latest funny moment on the red carpet was when she ripped her green, mermaid-like Zuhair Murad gown along her backside at the 2012 Emmy Awards. It was fortunately encountered backstage where she had the help of her wardrobe team to make a quick fix approximately 20 minutes before "Modern Family" won the Emmy for Best Comedy, reported Huffington Post.
As always in high spirits she posted a photo of her derriere where her dress' zipper broke and tweeted, "Yes!!!! This happend 20 min before we won!!!! Jajajajja. I luv my life!!!!"
"Dress malfuncion !!! Thank you emergency team!!!"
The Colombian actress had also made headlines from her on-again-off-again relationship with businessman, Nick Loeb, who has a net worth estimated at $15 million. He owes his wealth to his international production company; he's also the son of John Loeb Jr., former Ambassador to Denmark during Reagan administration. They announced their engagement last July.
A source close to the couple said Vergara and Loeb are attending couple's therapy, reported Star magazine.
"She decided they needed professional help before she would walk down the aisle," said the source to Star. "They had their first session over the phone- and so far, so good!"
Hopefully Vergara bouts through this flu that's been making its way around and reportedly severe in some states where many had to be taken to the hospital.
