Ben Affleck has been sporting a beard during his time working on "Argo", which he directed and starred in, and following his Oscar win for Best Picture on Sunday night, Affleck celebrated by shaving off his lucky beard at an Oscar after party, according to reports.
"He did it to mark the end of a chapter. It had that ceremonial quality to it," an insider told E! news. "It had that ceremonial quality to it." Affleck shaved his beard at Craig's restaurant Sunday night.
Ben Affleck was not nominated in the Best Director category for "Argo", but he did go on to win the most coveted award of the night, the Best Picture award. This is his second Oscar after winning Best Original Screenplay for "Good Will Hunting" in 1997.
"I was here 15 years ago or something and I had no idea what I was doing," he said in his acceptance speech. "I stood out here in front of you all and really just a kid. I went out and I never thought I would be back here. And I am, because of so many of you who are here tonight, because of this Academy, because of so many wonderful people who extended themselves to me when they had nothing to benefit from it in Hollywood."
Affleck also lovingly thanked his wife, and the mother of his children, Jennifer Garner for 'working' on their marriage.
His emotion showed as he gushed: 'I want to thank my wife ... for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It is work, but it's the best kind of work. And there's no one I'd rather work with.
