NBC's hit TV series, "The Voice" just ended its Season 8 but Season 9 is already back with a new panel of judges.
Veteran coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Pharell Williams are still part of the show but Christina Aguilera exits this season while Gwen Stefani is back. Stefani was part of Season 7.
Apart from Stefani's return, there will be guest judges too that include Selena Gomez, who will help Team Gwen at some point during the competition. Meanwhile, Missy Elliot will be joining Pharrell Williams.
Williams believe that Elliot's "unique brand of music and her distinct talent on stage will be just what his team needs to excel," Inquisitr wrote.
For Blake Shelton's team, Brad Paisley will be the guest coach while Adam Levine chooses Creedence Clearwater Revival's lead singer, John Fogerty. To recall, Fogerty performed a number with last season's "The Voice" winner, Sawyer Fredericks.
Individual guest coaches are not the only thing for "The Voice" but there is also a special guest advisor who will give tips and guides to the finalists. For Season 9, the guest advisor would be Rihanna who will show up when the season is closer to its end.
Rihanna will most likely play the same role as Reba McEntire in Season 8, who sat in on rehearsal sessions for each team and gave them advice to help them win, International Business Times reported.
For the opening of Season 9, judges had a star-studded performance with their hit songs medley. But the stars switched songs with Gwen Stefani singing Shelton’s “Neon Lights,” Shelton singing Stefani’s “Don’t Speak,” Pharrell hitting on Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” and Adam singing Williams’ “Get Lucky.” The coaches came together at the end to finish their performance.
During the premiere, "The Voice" host Carson Daly promised that the show will have the most shocking blind audition. Each of the judges got two contestants after the show where in the most notable performance was from Jordan Smith who sang "Chandelier." The four-chair turner landed on Levine's team to join Keith Semple who sang "I'll Be There for You," TV Line reported.
Meanwhile, Stefani got Braiden Sunshine and Kota Wade, Blake won the hearts of Nadjah Nicole and Barrett Barber while joining Pharrell's team are Siahna Im and Mark Hood.
