Benedict Cumberbatch is now happily married with wife Sophie Hunter, and the couple now has a son named Christopher Carlton. The British actor is known to keep his private life away from the media, but some publications got hold of the "Sherlock Holmes" star's property, which is believed to be the home where he plans to raise his family, as Sophie reportedly demanded that Benedict give up his bachelor pad.
Mirror UK reported back in May that Benedict has responded to his wife's demand and purchased a townhouse in North London worth £2.7 million as a preparation then for the birth of their child. The actor's London home is reportedly made up of four stories and features a 70-foot garden.
"Sophie wanted a break from the past and a fresh start with their new arrival which meant a new home. They're planning to modernise the house throughout but it has great space and potential in which to bring up a family," said a source from The Sun, which broke the news about the property.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail has also previously reported about Benedict and Sophie's home in Los Angeles, which is said to be the couple's base when they are in the U.S. The Los Angeles property is made up of a sprawling mansion featuring Tuscan style, and it features lavish amenities such as seven bedrooms, a swimming pool, tennis court, cinema room, five-car garage and more.
The property reportedly features panoramic views and is surrounded by incredible scenery. Inside, there's a striking entrance hall with a spiral staircase, white grand piano and classic pieces of furniture. The cinema room boasts carpeted floors and plush cushions but still evokes classic architecture and design. The kitchen, meanwhile, is fitted with wooden furniture, marble floors and chandelier.
Benedict has previously said that he wants to raise their baby with a "normal" life as possible, and he plans not to let his career get in the way of his family life. "I think there are plenty of good actors who are fathers ... I think what children do is enhance your life, they don't inhibit it," he said.
