Yesterday was a tough day for Skype users as the application went through some problems functioning well. If you are one of the many people who experienced Skype problems, don't worry, you are not alone. It is said that the problem with Skype hit its global consumers. Skype did confirm that they have encountered issues and they addressed this in their Twitter page and support page.
What was affected by the issue include the calling functionality and status updates. The IM part still worked though. Microsoft stated that your contacts will all have an offline status until the problem gets resolved.
According to TechRadar, they were given a message by a Microsoft spokesperson saying, "We are working hard to fix an issue which is preventing some users from logging in and using Skype. We apologise for any inconvenience and will keep our users updated."
The best thing to do during these times is to use Skype's web version, and there are always other substitutes like "FaceTime" and "Hangouts."
Update:
Skype announced that the problem will soon be fixed. They tweeted, "We're pleased to say we've found and are now rectifying the Skype problem you may have had today,"
The tweet did not explain when the application will finally get back to normal. Even in the linked webpage, all that was said is that they are in the process of fixing all problems and restoring the service. They also mentioned that 'Skype for Business' users are not affected by this problem.
Skype is such a big part of most households and businesses, so if there are problems regarding the application, a large population of consumers will be affected. Bosses and grandmas all over the globe might have to hold on to their thoughts for a while or transfer to a different app while Microsoft is working on the problems.
