Players of "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be able to receive some perks and bonuses starting next week by simply logging in the game every day. In the Forward Operating Base online mode, it was said that players will only be given a few options to unlock the Mother Base Coins, the game's virtual currency. Players can actually earn these coins via gameplay or by paying real-world money, a report from Gamespot said on Tuesday.
A screenshot reportedly revealed the Daily Login Bonus schedule that will be implemented in the first week. The report emphasizes that the game's bonuses will be earned if a player plays the game online. It added that the coins and other bonuses will be available via the Rewards menu in iDroid.
"Forward Operating Base is essentially an extension of the single-player Mother Base system, where players can expand their offshore fortress and, in turn, generate more resources that will assist them in the single-player campaign. As Konami has previously stated, the first Forward Operating Base will be given to players for free, but players will need to pay between 1000 and 1200 Mother Base Coins to build another," according to the report.
Gamespresso reports that the coins can be used by players to build and expand their offshore fortress. It was noted, however, that the first Forward Operating Base will be given to the players for free. Thus, by using the Mother Base coins, players will be encouraged to build another fortress.
Players can buy the Mother Base Coins through various bundles: $1.65 for 100 coins and $79.99 for 6,000 coins. It was noted that the prices are in New Zealand dollars. Game developer Konami has yet to announce the prices in U.S. dollars, according to Polygon.
"Doing so not only benefits players in the game's one-versus-one multiplayer mode, called Forward Operating Base, it also boosts the rate at which players earn resources and other currencies in the single-player campaign," the report said, explaining the benefits of the Mother Base coins.
