On Tuesday, software giant Microsoft has rolled out its Windows 10 Preview Build 10547 to Windows Insider. The Build 10547 is said to contain minor and major bug fixes, general improvements and new user interface intended for Microsoft's operating system, a report from PC Gamer said.
According to the report, the company has made a significant change in Windows 10 Start menu. In Build 10547, users will be able to add a fourth column of tiles to the Start menu. To access this new features, users need to go to Settings> Personalization> Start and enable the "Show More Tiles" option.
The company claims that the build now supports more than 2048 tiles compared with the previous 512 tiles in the Start menu.
"For developers, this build also includes a preview of Object RTC in Microsoft Edge. The ORTC APIs enable real-time audio and video communications directly inside Microsoft Edge without the need to install any plugins. You can learn more about how ORTC will work with Skype and Skype for Business over at the Skype blog, and developers can learn more about using these APIs at the Microsoft Edge Dev Blog," Microsoft said as posted on Windows Blog.
Toms Hardware reports that in Build 10547, the tablet mode feature is now "Windows friendly." This is because users can now snap applications both left or right side of the screen of Task view.
"This is an interesting turn of events for Microsoft. In Windows 8, Microsoft tried to push a very mobile-oriented user interface based on using individual apps in fullscreen mode. This proved to be an unpopular move, and now the company is attempting the opposite, giving mobile users a more windows-based, desktop-oriented interface," the report added.
In terms of improvements, Windows users can now personalize the Windows background picture displayed on the Sign-in screen. In order to personalize the background picture, users will have to go to Settings app> Personalization> Lock screen and turn off the "Show Windows background picture on the sign-in screen."
Aside from turning off the Windows background feature, the operating system's text input panel has also been expanded. It was said that the text input panel will not be opened automatically when a certain user is not in tablet mode.
