'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 Premiere & Spoilers: Meredith To Find A New Man Amid Shonda Rhimes' Claims She'll Stay Single

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 could introduce a new love interest for Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey.

According to TV Line, new cast member Martin Henderson will eventually become Meredith's new man before the end of season 12. In the past, executive producer Shonda Rhimes said that Henderson will not be serve as Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) replacement. However, the publication believes that Henderson will eventually become Meredith's new flame.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Rhimes said that she still does not know what role Henderson will play in the series.

"I don't even know what I'm going to do with him yet. I mean honestly, I don't know. That's not really the point. Meredith's on a journey. Meredith's always been on a journey, and I'm taking her where the journey leads her, so we'll see what that feels like," she said.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that Meredith could threaten Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex's (Justin Chambers) relationship.

After Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, Meredith focused all of her attention and energy on Derek. Now that her husband is dead, Meredith needs the support of her new "person," Alex.

However, Alex and Jo recently moved in together, and the two are ready to take their relationship to the next level.

Unfortunately, Alex's attention will be divided between the two women. Although he understands that Jo and Meredith need him in different ways, there will be instances wherein Alex will be torn on which of the two he will be with.

Luckily, even though Alex and Jo's relationship will be put to the test, Meredith will not be the cause of the couple's breakup.

The series will also focus on Callie and Arizona's relationship, and Jackson and April's marriage troubles.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
