Dog shoots owner in the leg. Yes, that is not a bad-humored comedy skit plot, it unfortunately did happen in Florida, Highlands Today reported Monday.
The go accidentally shot his owner, Gregory Dale Lanier, 35, of Sebring, Fla.in the leg with a .380 pistol while they were in the car together, the report said.
The owner didn't know that the gun on the floor of his truck was loaded until his dog accidentally kicked it, shooting out a bullet into Lanier's leg.
"Lanier said he heard boom, saw smoke and felt a burning in his leg," Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr said.
Police did not arrest the dog but an investigation is ongoing.
Surprisingly, a dog shooting their owner is not as uncommon as it may sound. A 78-year-old Florida man was also shot in the leg by his dog in December 2011. In another case in France, a hunter was shot by his dog when the pooch jumped up to give the man a hug. The dog's paw hit the trigger and shot the man's hand, which had to be amputated. Still, the hunter had no hard feelings. "It's not the dog's fault," he said.
