'Destiny: The Taken King' Review: Launched With New Story and Features, Sold With Sony PS4 Bundle

"Destiny: The Taken King," was launched this week featuring a new dimension to this latest expansion for the Destiny First-Person Shooter (FPS) game.

The popular Xbox and PlayStation game series has a new and expanded storyline as it centers around a king named Oryx, who controls the gamut of enemy races by taking over their wills, Inquisitr reported. The site added that the Taken King visits the Earth’s solar system as he seeks revenge for the death of his son, Crota.

It was revealed that some features of "Destiny: The Taken King" includes a new cool quest system, new subclasses, shiny gear, changes to inventory and currency, and a lot more.

“Previously, once players hit the hard level 20 cap, only light could elevate them to the old maximum of 34. This level was raised by equipping better armor, which contained a light level. This was restrictive, and locked less skilled players out of progression, as the hardest to get armor from raids was needed to get to the maximum level. It also saw practically every player look identical, wearing the same gear as it was the only way to attain the maximum level (save for the odd exotic). It was a cumbersome, restrictive mess, and now it’s gone," Den of Geek wrote.

"Now, the level cap of 40 can be reached by anyone, regardless of skill. It’s raised by experience, which you can get by doing anything. So, if you wish, you can sit in the Cosmodrome for days killing low level enemies and level up. Sure, it’ll take you a long time to reach 40, but you can, all without ever stepping foot in a raid,” it added.

Players will fight Oryx's army of Taken as well as creatures that were kidnapped and corrupted by the dark king, Cinema Blend reported. The three sub-classes in the game includes the NightStalker, a Hunter subclass where a Void bow and arrow are used to trap enemies, the Warlock subclass of Stormcaller, which is strong in using Arc energy; and the Sunbreaker class, which is a Titan subclass that can cause heavy, short-range damage using a flaming hammer.

Since its release, "Destiny: The Taken King" took the top spot on the U.K. sales chart, making it the first Activision Blizzard title to top sales since "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare."

The game is currently being sold as a bundle with Sony's 500GB Limited Edition Destiny PS4 as well as a copy of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," priced at $399.99.
