Last August, Hollywood Take reported that Giuliana Rancic officially left E! News. Her "frenemy" Maria Menounos took her place. Guiliana left E! News but will still continue doing "Fashion Police" and "Live From The Red Carpet."
Page Six reported that Giuliana said, "For more than a decade I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of 'E! News' and will miss my family at the show," she said in a statement. "At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show 'Rich in Faith' for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level."
Guiliana was said to be planning to extend her contract once it expires but E! News already hired Menounos. When Rancic left E!, Maria took over and the ratings of the shows boost up.
According to Radar Online, "Rancic's final week as the anchor of E! News, August 3 through 9, 2015, averaged 444,000 viewers for the hour." While "the ratings for Menounos' first week as the anchor of E! News, August 10 through 16, 2015, averaged 546,000 for the hour."
"Maria is beyond excited at the upcoming opportunity to be the anchor for E! News. She came in gunning for Giuliana's job and she got it," an insider told Radar Online.
Since then rumors are came out that there is indeed an ongoing feud between Guiliana and Maria. A reliable source reportedly told Page Six that, "It's the battle of the b-tches. They're like oil and water. They cannot stand each other."
"They've always been rivals. Maria sees Giuliana as competition and it goes back years. They never speak and they won't appear on-set together. It's kind of unspoken that if she is in the building, Giuliana wants nothing to do with her."
However another source insisted that, "Maria doesn't have any issues with Giuliana, she sees her as a role model. Giuliana doesn't feel the same way."
Radar Online reported that during the Emmys, Guiliana returned for E!'s Red Carpet. But this time Menounos was out of sight which fueled the speculations that there is a feud between them.
The source said that, "The network had to keep Giuliana under contract to do all of the award shows because fans hated Maria when she did the SAG Awards last year."
"But Maria wasn't happy that she was going to be playing second fiddle to Giuliana and not doing the award shows is a sticking point," the source explained. "Maria loves getting designer dresses on loan for doing the red carpets. Over time, she is hopeful that Giuliana won't want to continue to commute from Chicago to Los Angeles to do the award shows."
Staff of E! are doing their best to help ease the tension between the two. The source said that, "Giuliana will obviously be at the office during award season, and the staff is trying to make sure the two women don't cross paths."
