A big name in the computer and technology industry has stepped into the spotlight. John McAfee reportedly attended a meeting at TechCrunch Disrupt Monday struggling to persuade a doubtful group of journalist to take his political announcement seriously.
According to recode.net, McAfee confidently proclaimed, "I will be president. You can laugh all you want. I'll bet you a dollar. I will be president or I would not be doing this." The crowd reportedly chuckled upon hearing that.
During an interesting interview with CNN, he said that his campaign slogan is "Privacy, Freedom and Technology". Like Donald Trump, he believes that his experience in running a multi-billion dollar company qualifies him to run for president. When he was asked if Trump's success in the polls motivated him to run for president he said, "Actually not. I fear that Donald Trump will end up like every politician because he is attached to a party, which is a machine. His party is based on a hundred years or more of political manipulations, and he cannot function outside of that party. That's a tragic state of affairs. As an independent, I am beholden to no one."
On the other hand, According to CNN, this presidential hopeful has a tainted past. He has recently been arrested for DUI and gun possession and several years after he sold his company to Intel in 2010, he fled Belize after he was questioned about the murder of his neighbor. When he was asked if his past would become an obstacle in gaining public trust, his response was, "I don't think so. We're talking to the American public. We're not a squeaky clean group of people.
He is candid and straightforward with quite an idea on what he wants to do if he becomes the president. He was also honest that he wasn't into shaking hands and kissing babies and that he wants to carry on his presidential duties while fishing.
