Despite the delay of Watch OS 2's release due to a bug found during the testing process, Apple's first wearable device was finally out with useful features integrated into it. This second-generation operating system makes the smart watch much more useful.
The previous watch OS was over-dependent on the iPhone and needed to go through it in order for the apps to work. Now, Native Apps can load faster directly from the Apple Watch, resulting in greater functionality and the Watch's increased independency.
Aside from native apps, it also has a new feature called Time Travel which allows users to spin the Watch’s crown back and forth in order to either review, or preview tasks and things. This is a useful way to check data on supported features like weather and sports scores, Bidness Etc reported.
With the Nightstand Mode, users can operate the Apple Watch as an alarm clock even when charging. Its side button can function as the snooze button. The alarm can be silenced using the digital crown.
The Apple Watch now has the ability to connect to Wi-Fi networks which means it can already send message and use Siri. With this, users can talk to their watch to launch Glances, call friends using FaceTime audio, reply to emails, and ask for directions, Gizmodo reported.
To provide security to its users, the Apple Watch now features Activation Lock wherein users are required to enter their iCloud login information the same as what can be done to other Apple devices.
Health conscious iPhone users can use the Workout section on the Apple Watch app to keep track of one's progress and record the activity. It will be mirrored on the iPhone via the Activity app.
Users can now have the ability to customize their watch face. A picture or different photos can be used which will change every time the user raises his/her wrist. Aside from that, new emojis and color pickers are added to the watch allowing users to make and send drawings.
