'Samsung Galaxy Tab S2' Specs, Price: Thinnest Android Tablet Perfect for Multi-tasking

Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S2, an upgrade from last year's Galaxy Tab S, is considered as the latest tablet that can be a notable competitor of the iPad.

Tab S2 has two models, one with a 9.7-inch display that has 5870mAh battery and one with an 8-inch display with 4000mAh battery, but both come packing the same internals including octa-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB of expandable storage, Techno Buffalo reported.

Galaxy Tab S2 is equipped with an octa-core Exynos 5433 processer and runs with Android 5.1.1. It has a microSD slot supporting cards up to 128GB.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 inch Super AMOLED display has a 2048 x 1536 screen resolution and works 264 pixels per inch (ppi). Yibada said that the "screen is better suited for multitasking, and features bright, popping colors and fluid animations. Users can open up to six windows across the tablet's screen, as long as the app supports split-screen mode."

The device measures 9.34 x 6.65 x 0.22 inches and weighs 13.7 ounces, which is thinner and lighter compared to Apple's iPad Air 2. The rear camera has 8MP while the front camera is 2.1MP. It also has the ability to record QHD video at 30 frames per second. The Tab S2 9.7 has a 5,870 mAh battery that can last for 5 hours and 11 minutes, PC Mag reported.

The tablet can also be connected to a Samsung Smart TV via its QuickConnect feature using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With its Sidesync feature, the user can use a Samsung phone through the tablet. Another perk of the Tab S2 is its fingerprint reader, which is considered as among the best and most accurate fingerprint technology on the market.

The 8-inch, Wi-Fi-only Tab S2 with 32GB of internal storage can be purchased for $399. Meanwhile, the 9.7-inch, Wi-Fi-only 32GB tab is priced at $499. There are also LTE-equipped models available through AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, and T-Mobile that vary in price and can cost up to $650, The Verge reported.
